MADDELYN ROSE
New Zealand;
Since arriving back in NZ Bill and Rose have been busy settling in, after arriving on January 8th 20014 and after long flights from Costa Rica via San Hose , LA, Auckland we rested up for a few days, purchased a second vehicle, a 2006 X type Jaguar for Bill and Rose used the old Toyota to learn her driving, Rose sat her theory driving test in March and got 34 correct out of 35 questions, since then Bill has been her driving instructor.
Maddelyn Rose arrived on Dock Wise ship transporter on the 11th February, Bill connected the batteries and checked the engines, Dock wise submerged and we undocked, motored to our pre arranged berth at Mc Mullen and Wing ship builders small marina where Bill worked 25 years ago.
We attended Bills long time friends Paul and Loraine Robertson 50th
wedding annaversary which was a lot of fun, Bill presented both Paul and Loraine with a gold medal for services to each other and told several amusing stories about Paul ( that cannot be repeated on this site ) this went down rather well with everyone.
Bill also took Rose to Mt Ruapehu where Rose experienced snow for the first time, Bill admits he did take some small pleasure in throwing snowballs at Rose until Rose figured out that she could throw them back !!!!!!
While at Mt Ruapehu we took a long walk of about 3 hours in the native bush, enjoyed the water falls and surrounding areas.
New Zealand is a huge rugby nation and we took the oppurtuity to go the watch a game between New Zealand and Australia, this was Roses first live rugby match and she out yelled and screamed with excitement just about all the other 48 thousand spectators, NZ thrashed Aussie.
Maddelyn Roses bottom was getting a bit of growth so we lifted out at Gulf Harbour about 16 mile north of Auckland, used a 110 ton travel lift with no problems, not like the issues we had in Norfolk with unskilled operators, anti fouled and put prop speed on the props and back in the water in 4 days.
Xmas 2014 was on us and had 3 weeks off work so headed out to the outer islands in the Hauraki gulf on Maddelyn Rose, we had fantastic weather, good fishing, picnics on the beach as the photos will show.
Also since being back Rose applied for her one year visa to New Zealand which she got, then applied for and got her work permit, applied for her tempory residence which she is waiting for confirmation at the moment.
Bill in April and Rose in May got work at McMullen and Wing where they are building a 55 meter super yacht, Bill as an engineer and Rose in the administration department.
We have been out most weekends when weather allows on Maddelyn Rose, sometimes just the 2 of us and other times we took friends with us.
< living the dream >
Bill and Rose want to wish all our friends both in the USA, Thailand and New Zealand all the very best for the new year, may all your hopes and dreams come true.
